Canon EOS Rebel T2i Pros:
- The 18-135mm lens is an excellent upgrade to the standard 18-55mm lens. Particularely if this is your first digital SLR, and you don’t have a huge budget for extra lenses. It is also good for trips, taking pictures of kids, or in any other situation where you don’t want to change lenses. (And you save about $100 when purchasing this kit, compared to body + 18-135mm Canon lens).
- Performance. Minimal shutter lag, nice video, good low-light performance.
- Relatively light (approximately 1 kg / 2 pounds with lens), again good for trips.
Canon EOS Rebel T2i Cons:
- Price is a bit high – but worth it.
- The on board flash isn’t ideal.
- No autofocus when zooming while taking video.
- Focus in live picture mode is a little too slow.
Photographs:
- The Canon EOS Rebel T2i pictures are awesome. The wide range ISO and big screen makes reviewing pictures very easy.
Video:
Video is one of the strongest features of the Canon EOS Rebel T2i. I’m a semi-professional videographer and my primary video camera is a Canon HX-A1s. I bought this as a secondary video camera. I’ve and have found that it does some things better then my HD video camera and some not quite as well. The bulk of my test footage has been extremely good. Canon EOS Rebel T2ican take very beautiful video! There is a catch however; its very hard to control during recording. Zooming, focus tracking, and adjusting exposure are all nearly impossible to do smoothly when recording video because its just not set up to be a dedicated video camera. Audio is passible for candid recording but quite good enough for professional work.
Areas this camera excels include:
- Captures very professional looking video.
- Great for home movies, or candid video.
Areas its not quite as good include:
- Manual controls or mid-recording adjustments
- Low light
- Highly detailed scenes.
- Record clips longer than 15 minutes.
- High quality audio.
